We’re here for the cats and dogs across Coventry, Solihull, Rugby and Nuneaton but also for the humans, and their communities, that are pet owners. We want to help strengthen our local communities however we can and thanks to funding from the Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board’s Research Engagement Network (REN) we are able to do exactly that.

The RSPCA Coventry & District received funding from Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board’s Research Engagement Network (REN), to share voluntary opportunities to take part in health and care research.

By listening to real experiences, research helps improve the support, services and understanding available to people in our communities.

Why did we get involved?

The centre is more than just rehoming animals, as well as our shops, events and fundraising, we also run a range of projects with communities to help educate and support pet owners. These projects will enable us to facilitate communication and collaboration about research and the benefits that engaging in research can bring to us all. While we’re not running the research ourselves, we are helping to signpost opportunities across our region.

What the project involves:

This project is about conversation, understanding and choice.

We are:

  • Creating safe opportunities to talk about what people think and feel about research
  • Listening to any concerns, questions or barriers people may have
  • Sharing clear information about research opportunities that may be relevant
  • Feeding community insights back to the Research Engagement Network to help make research more inclusive and accessible

Who we will be working with:

As part of this funded project, we are running focused engagement work with:

  • Care leavers

  • People with lived experience of mental health challenges

These groups often face barriers to being involved in research, and this project helps address those barriers through trusted community support.

How you can get involved in research:

However, we are also able to share wider research opportunities that are available, please click the links below to learn about or take part in research:

Be Part of Research

This work is part of a Coventry and Warwickshire programme helping communities better understand and engage with health and care research. It is supported by the Research Engagement Network (REN) and delivered locally with community partners including CAVA (Community & Voluntary Action).
