Branch trustee

Do you have professional expertise you could use to help a good cause? Are you passionate about animal welfare? We are looking for Trustees to manage the affairs of the Coventry and District Branch to promote and provide animal welfare within the branch area. As a trustee of a branch, you will have the chance to influence how we care for and prevent cruelty to animals.
Overview of the Branch Trustee opportunity
We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate person who could devote the time to volunteer with us as one of our Trustees. As a Trustee of the Branch, you will have the chance to influence how we care for and prevent cruelty to animals and drive the implementation of key initiatives. You will serve on the governing body of the charity and be instrumental in the running of the Branch and setting out both the short and long terms aims.
As a minimum, trustees would normally be expected to attend a monthly committee meeting lasting some 2 to 3 hours. However, the commitment may vary dependent on whether or not the trustee takes on additional duties such as the role of chairman, treasurer or secretary.

Retail Relief Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic retailer with excellent
customer service skills to join our shops in Coventry as a Retail Relief Manager.


We currently have 4 shops in the Coventry area, namely Earlsdon, Coundon, Allesley and Wyken. We are also exploring other exciting opportunities and our ambitions are for the portfolio to grow over time.

You will be responsible for the holiday and absence relief cover to enable a continuous and successful delivery of a customer focussed shop team that is the ‘window of the RSPCA’.


When covering a shop manager position, the post holder will be responsible for the support of achieving that shop’s profits and targets and will be accountable for the effective management of finances, stock, premises and administration.


You will manage a team of volunteer staff to assist you in providing an excellent customer experience.  Together, you’ll maintain a well merchandised shop that pushes the boundaries and maintains the RSPCA image and reputation.


We are looking for an adaptable team player to help support the shops when and where necessary, so flexibility is key to success in this job role. The post holder will use their skills day to day to communicate and deliver the ever evolving retail strategy throughout
the retail operation.


The RSPCA Coventry and District is a separately registered charity although we are supported by and work in partnership with the RSPCA National Society. We are primarily self-funding. Our RSPCA Branch has been helping animals and their owners for 150 years.


Hours of work are 21 hours per week, split over 3 or 4 days depending on operational need Salary: £11.14 per hour. Permanent position.

Job description

Volunteer Speaker

We deliver talks to community groups in the Coventry area to promote the work of the RSPCA Coventry and District and to inspire people to fundraise in aid of the branch.

This role involves:


  • Talking to a range of different groups of people such as school pupils and community groups
  • Educating the community on the work of the RSPCA Coventry and District Branch
  • Delivering Presentations, sometimes using PowerPoint
  • Ability and willingness to travel

Retail Volunteer

We are always looking for people to lend a helping hand at any of our 3 charity shops in Earlsdon, Allesley and Wyken!

Fundraising Volunteer

We attend external organisations events to help raise vital funds for our centre.


This role involves:


  • Running an RSPCA Coventry and District stall as at local fayre
  • Bucket collecting at local stores, such as Pets at Home stores and local supermarkets
  • Cash handling such as raffle ticket sales and collecting donations
  • Providing information on the work of the RSPCA Coventry and District Branch
