Important Notice: Road Closure Affecting Access to Our Centre (8th–22nd December)

We have been informed by Breheny Civil Engineering, with the closure approved by Coventry City Council, that road resurfacing works on Coundon Wedge Drive will take place from 8th December for two weeks.

This will mean no vehicle access to the RSPCA Coventry & District Animal Centre between 9.30am and 3.30pm every day.

We received the notification only shortly before the works began, and we fully understand how difficult this will be for adopters, donors, volunteers and visitors at such an important time of year.

What this means for the animals in our care

  • We rehome an average of 66 animals every month, and access restrictions are likely to reduce rehoming by up to 30%

  • Adoption fees contribute over £5,000 monthly towards essential animal care

  • December is normally a peak period for donations of food, blankets, toys and funds, all of which help animals through winter

  • Vet services will be reduced during this time period affecting the care that we can give local animals

How you can help during this period

To support the centre:

  • Financial donations can be made online

  • Physical donations can be dropped off after 3.30pm

  • You can take items to any RSPCA Coventry charity shop

  • Local businesses — if you can offer space for a temporary donation drop-off point, we’d be extremely grateful

Accessing the centre

  • If you need access to the centre to adopt, access the vet or for a planned visit you can still attend before 9.30am or after 3.30pm

  • There will be no access to the site during the closure window

  • We apologise for the inconvenience caused — we know this will be frustrating for many

Thank you for your kindness and support. Your help ensures that every animal stays warm, safe and cared for during this difficult period.
